Vantura Outfitters VO 270 freestanding awning set up beside a 4WD

VO 270 vs VO 270+ Awning: What's the Difference?

The "+" in VO 270+ trips a lot of buyers up when they're comparing it against the standard VO 270. Both wrap 270 degrees around the side and rear corner of your vehicle, both have the integrated LED-lit frame welded to the backplate, and both come in the same two opening sizes. The difference is coverage area and build weight, not shape.

  • Black aluminium alloy frame, 22/25mm pipe, grade 304 stainless bolts and nuts
  • Built-in LED lighting

Which one should you choose?

If you're mounting on a lighter roof platform, a hardshell rooftop tent rail with a modest load rating, or you just want the lightest wraparound shelter available, the standard VO 270 covers most campsite setups without the extra weight. The VO 270+ is worth the upgrade if you regularly camp as a group, run a camp kitchen and dining area under the same shelter, or simply want the largest wraparound coverage Vantura offers - just factor the extra 6kg into your roof load calculations alongside your tent, brackets and any solar panel. Our Weight Management guide covers how to check this against your vehicle's rating.

Mounting either awning

Both awnings use the same bracket range - see our Awning Bracket Guide if you're mounting to a rooftop tent rail, or our roof rack/platform mounting guide if you're not running an RTT.

FAQ

Does the VO 270+ cover more ground in both the 2m and 2.5m sizes?

The coverage step-up is most noticeable on the 2.5m version, which reaches up to 14sqm compared with 12sqm on the standard VO 270.

Is the VO 270+ harder to set up than the VO 270?

No - both use the same freestanding welded-frame design and setup process. The VO 270+ is simply built from heavier-gauge components to support the larger coverage area.

Can I fit an annex to either awning?

Yes, both the VO 270 and VO 270+ support the same annex option. See our Annex vs Awning guide if you're deciding whether you need one.

Which side does the awning open from?

Both ship passenger-side by default, with driver-side available on request at checkout or by contacting us before ordering.
